Threshold Ramps

Wheelchairs, scooters and walkers often need a ramp to transition from the sidewalk over the threshold. We recently installed this sturdy aluminum threshold ramp which will accommodate 700 lbs. to aid a wheelchair bound gentleman. The ramp needed to meet the threshold height of over 5”, not interfere with the operation of the storm door and most importantly have shallow slope. Small Ramp

That Grab Bar Guy offers a variety of different ways to transition from one level to another. Whether it is a threshold ramp, grab bar, or a custom handrail we can help.

Where Do You Put It?

This question is always the first question asked of us. A well placed ADA grab bar is usually placed in the shower or bath tub along the back wall at a height most comfortable for the intended user and parallel to the floor. Although sometimes grab bars are installed on an angle, this is usually contrary to best practices, a level

installation is best. Some installations include more than one grab bar mounted parallel to one another to accommodate differing heights of users or a grab bar is installed at the entrance to the shower, this helps when getting into or out of the shower, over the curb or side of the tub. Lastly sometimes we are asked to add a grab bar at the valve end of the tub or shower to aid while standing  adjusting the temperature or using a hand shower.ADA grab bars aren’t just for showers and bath tubs either, they are used in doorways to help climbing over thresholds , there are folding grab bars , used to help with toileting. They can even be installed in the laundry area to give greater stability. Grab bars can be installed almost anywhere.
